How can I target my audience effectively on X ads

5 Key Points for Effective X Ads Targeting

  1. Leverage Autopilot: Use the Autopilot Chrome extension for efficient audience targeting
  2. Refine Your Audience: Target based on demographics like country, state, gender, and age
  3. Focus on Keywords: Utilize relevant keywords to reach your ideal audience
  4. Test and Optimize: Continuously test different audience lists to improve performance
  5. Manual Building Option: Build audiences manually if preferred, focusing on follower look-alikes and keywords

As more and more people are getting frustrated with Facebook ads and their Google ad performance, they're looking into things like X (Twitter) ads for their business. In this post, I'm going to walk you through how to find the perfect audience for you and your business on X.

Hey there, my name is Brad Smith, owner of AutomationLinks. I've been doing this marketing stuff for the last 10 years and helped over 25 people. If you stick with me to the end, I'm going to show you the exact blueprint that we use to:

  1. Find the ideal audience
  2. Set up the right ads to get the most conversions

Building Your Ideal Audience

This is where you build your ads. If you aren't familiar with setting up X and Twitter ads, this is when you get to your campaign and your ad group level.

Using Autopilot

What we really want to recommend is using the Autopilot feature. Autopilot is a Chrome extension you can download from the Chrome Store. It's free to use and will allow you to build your perfect audience to target on X.

Steps to use Autopilot:

  1. Set up Autopilot
  2. Go through their targeting list
  3. Use AI to build your audience (Say something like "I want a list of CEOs in United States". That's going to be my example for the AI to take over and start building that list for us.")
  4. Add more relevant keywords (Depending on your type of business, go ahead and type in whatever you want there. The more clear and specific you are, the better the results)

Refining Your Audience

For me, I like to just keep it to the countries that people would buy from, so United States or Canada would be the best for me. I'm good with all the cities and states, and with men and women. My only thing is I want them to be over 21.

Steps:

  1. Click on "next"
  2. Target based on:
  • Country
  • State
  • Gender
  • Age

Pro tip: You can always come back and test these as well. They save as lists so you can test with your ads and see which ones work best.

Manual Audience Building

If you don't want to use Autopilot, you can build your audience manually:

  1. Set your budget and check your estimated audience size
  2. Focus on follower look-alikes and keywords
  3. For keywords, think about what your ideal audience might be typing or commenting about

Conclusion

I hope this post brought you a ton of value. If you want to learn more about creating ads on X:

Thanks again for reading, and I'll see you on the next one.

  • What is Autopilot and how does it help with X ads targeting?

Autopilot is a free Chrome extension that helps you build your perfect audience for X (Twitter) ads. It uses AI to generate a list of relevant keywords and demographics based on your input, making it easier to create a targeted audience for your campaigns.

  • Can I target specific countries or age groups with X ads?

Yes, X ads allow you to target based on various factors including country, state, gender, and age. For example, you can choose to target only the United States and Canada, and set a minimum age requirement like 21 years old.

  • What are follower look-alikes and why are they important for X ads?

Follower look-alikes are users who have similar characteristics to the followers of specific accounts. They're important because they help you reach a broader audience that's likely to be interested in your product or service, based on their similarities to your existing followers or those of relevant accounts in your industry.

  • How can I use keywords effectively in my X ad targeting?

To use keywords effectively, think about what your ideal audience might be typing or commenting about. Your ad can then show up below posts or comments containing these keywords. This allows you to target users who are actively engaging with topics relevant to your business.

  • Is it possible to test different audience targeting strategies on X?

Yes, X allows you to save different audience lists, making it easy to test various targeting strategies. You can create multiple audience lists using different criteria and then run ads to each list to see which performs best. This approach helps you optimize your targeting over time for better ad performance.
